Sustainability in the textile industry: Christian Fischbacher's vision

October 4, 2024

Long live bed linen! From the conception in Switzerland to the repair of a missing button - even after years of use, Christian Fischbacher stands for concrete sustainability.

Sustainable by tradition

Christian Fischbacher has been an emblem of sustainability for over 200 years. Only through far-sighted decisions has the company been able to be so successful for so long. And that doesn't just include economic decisions and a positive image. Rather, it is about the appreciation of people and the preservation of the region that make this success possible. For Christian Fischbacher, sustainability was an issue even before the word entered common parlance.

A company can only survive for decades if it makes responsible decisions for the future. This applies both to projects that have an impact on the environment and to considerations that have social significance.

Sustainable right from the start: materials with added value

Sustainability for the PURE line

With the PURE terry towelling line, we have made organically grown and pollutant-tested organic cotton in twelve different shades into our top terry towelling collection. Certified by Made in Green by OEKO-TEX®, the terry towels not only have the usual excellent Fischbacher quality, but also a traceable supply chain. Made by people in socially responsible, safe workplaces, these bathroom textiles feel heavenly in every respect.

Our PURE bath rugs are another highlight. Designed with natural materials and made with unparalleled softness, they are the perfect addition to the bathroom. This timeless design comes in seven different color variations, where we cleverly combine two PURE terry colors to create a vibrant and natural mélange effect. The material mix of 50% organic cotton and 50% linen ensures a refined and aesthetic feel in perfect harmony with nature.

Environmentally friendly, exclusive sleeping comfort with linen

Linen fabrics are our passion! These natural fibres are not only characterized by their wonderful texture and durability, but also gain in charm with every wash. They become softer and smoother from time to time, they are extremely absorbent and can soak up up to 20 percent of their own weight in liquid, which they then quickly release back into the air. This ensures a pleasantly fresh and dry feeling - ideal for anyone who appreciates natural materials and maximum comfort!

Christian Fischbacher production processes: local and social

Christian Fischbacher's production processes rely on local and regional resources. It all starts in the design studio at the headquarters in St. Gallen, where new ideas and innovative concepts are created.

Ecologically responsible textile finishing

Our textile finishing is run by a traditional family business in its third generation. With around 100 dedicated employees, this company finishes over 6 million meters of textiles for international customers every year. Sustainability is at the forefront: the production has received several awards and the entire electricity requirement is covered 100% by environmentally friendly hydropower. In addition, the textiles are dyed, printed and finished in a CO2-neutral way. A true partner for responsible textile production.

Long-standing partnerships

Our long-standing partnerships with Italian suppliers are the result of a deep-rooted collaboration based on both personal trust and sound professional expertise. We attach great importance to close, direct relationships that have grown over the years. This strong bond enables us to guarantee the highest quality standards and respond flexibly to our customers' needs. Our Italian network stands for excellent craftsmanship, innovative strength and reliability - values that we pass on with passion.

Quality instead of quantity

Our employees cut and sew by hand with a great deal of expertise and craftsmanship. Quality instead of quantity is the motto in the tailoring department, which produces around 4000 items every week.

We focus on tailor-made production rather than mass production. Each order is made individually and according to demand, so that we can avoid unnecessary stock and respond efficiently to customer requests. This needs-based production enables us to make targeted use of resources, optimize costs and at the same time guarantee the highest quality and flexibility.

Durable products and repair service

The longevity of our creations stands out in today's throwaway society. Bed linen and terry towels from Christian Fischbacher are made to last, to withstand many washes without losing any of their excellent quality.

Lifetime guarantee

At Christian Fischbacher, excellent craftsmanship is at the heart of our corporate philosophy. That is why we offer a lifetime guarantee on all our textile products - as a sign of our confidence in the quality and durability of our work. Every purchase should be a long-term promise for our customers. Our guarantee covers all material and manufacturing defects and gives you the assurance that you can always rely on our products.

Repairs instead of new purchases

We also offer a repair service. We replace missing buttons or broken zippers, because repairing fine bed linen is always worthwhile. So you can enjoy your Christian Fischbacher bed linen for years to come and enjoy unrestricted sleeping comfort with a clear conscience towards the environment.

Buying high quality saves money

You can be doubly pleased, because according to the motto “Buy cheap, buy twice”, high-quality bed linen from Christian Fischbacher is an investment that pays off over the years. At the same time, you can experience the luxurious feeling of sleep from day one that only the best bed linen made in Switzerland can offer.

Bed linen from Christian Fischbacher is a statement against the throwaway society.

Social responsibility as a matter of course

As a long-standing textile company, we are deeply rooted in St. Gallen, Swiss nature, values, traditions and the people here. It is only thanks to our strong roots that we can enjoy international success, which is also guaranteed by the prestige that our location and our history give us.

Social responsibility is therefore a matter of course for the company. We guarantee secure and fairly paid jobs along the entire production chain. This also includes the work of our creative staff at our St. Gallen headquarters. Our employees can count on us for a lifetime - from training to retirement. Because Christian Fischbacher has stood for reliability, quality and steadfast principles for over 200 years.

We have been working with some of our partner companies for over 100 years. This is only possible because we always keep our word, enter into reliable and long-term relationships and make no compromises when it comes to values. For example, our extra long staple cotton of the highest quality is produced by an Austrian weaving mill.
