Trends that make you happy.

Basic rules and trends in the bedroom

No matter which trend you want to jump on: When it comes to bedroom furnishings, there are a few tips that you should always bear in mind.

Even if you are renting and are not happy with some of the details, you should know that you can get the most out of your room with lighting, cushions and textiles. Find the desire for something new and the courage to change. But always with caution! In the bedroom, a low-stimulus design is not only trendy, but also good for your sleep. Unagitated is the motto. The bedroom should also be warm and cozy. And that doesn't just mean the temperature and number of blankets, but the visual impression and the feeling of being at home.

It's an old wives' tale that no plants or mirrors are allowed in the bedroom. Bring on the greenery and say yes to the many furnishing tricks that are possible with cleverly placed mirrors. Diffuse lighting with symmetrically arranged lamps is both cozy and looks neat.

Don't skimp on the bed linen! It should not only look heavenly, but also be cuddly soft and invite you to relax. Soft bed linen is also good for your health. Smooth fabrics such as satin and silk are good for your skin and hair.

Putting some time and thought into planning your bedroom is definitely worthwhile. If you manage to combine the basic rules in the bedroom with your personal top furnishing trends, you will achieve truly royal results in your bedroom.

Cuddly trend: pillow decorations for the bed

Lots of cushions of different sizes immediately give the bed an inviting appearance. The cushions are arranged symmetrically and according to size. The more voluminous 65 by 100 centimeter cushions are placed towards the back, smaller decorative cushions towards the front. Cushions measuring 50 by 70 centimetres and smaller, rectangular cushions are staggered towards the front. The highlights go in the middle. Your most beautiful decorative cushions, such as the Blue Hour decorative cushion, are the eye-catcher in the center of the bed.

It is important to have a color concept that is repeated in the pillows, the bed linen and the rest of the room. At Christian Fischbacher, we have thought about making your design work in the bedroom easier and have designed product lines that contain everything you need for harmonious, coherent furnishings. The Winterwald bed set, for example, can be wonderfully combined with both plain and decorative cushions from the Winterwald collection.

Sleeping tastes vary and some people love to snuggle up with all the pillows in bed at night. However, if you only use your favorite pillow for sleeping and only see the additional pillows as a comfortable support when reading and as decoration, you can place a basket next to the bed. This is where the cuddly pillows go at night when they are not needed and are ready to hand again the next morning when you make the bed.

Immortal bedroom trend: beige

Natural colors simply belong in the bedroom and beige is back at the forefront both on social media and in magazines. You simply can't go wrong with a bed set in natural materials and neutral colors. They can be combined wonderfully and go well with the woods that are still in vogue: Oak and dark wood are everywhere.

That alone would not be news, because hotel chic is one of the furnishing classics in the bedroom that will always be in fashion, but what is new is the combination with monochrome eye-catchers in bright colors. If you want to follow the trend without having to dig too deep into your pockets, simply choose cushions in vibrant contrasting colors, such as the Sarastro decorative cushion cover. It features an exotic landscape on one side and a psychedelic pattern in mustard yellow and purple on the other. And you're already at the forefront of fashion!

Our Satin Mystic Garden bed set combines this trend. Magnificent flowers in radiant colors bloom on a classic neutral beige background. A wonderful choice if your bedroom is already in beige tones and you want to pick up on the fresh color accents while retaining the timeless elegance.

Intense colors for the bedroom

Tone-on-tone is currently in vogue and interior design trendsetters swear by the color terracotta. The red-brown shade is somewhere between invigorating and calming, between fresh and cozy, between inspiring and enveloping. It is a fashion that has long been popular in Mediterranean countries. Here, walls and floors in shades of terracotta are classics. The
Jamila satin bed set completes a bedroom in earthy terracotta tones.

But other decisive colors are also trendy in the bedroom. Try purple, red, eggplant, dark blue, dark green or even black. The important thing with this furnishing style is to keep everything in the desired color: Walls and floors, furniture and lamps and, of course, home textiles and bed linen. The end result looks elegant and sophisticated. Have you already chosen your favorite color for the bedroom?

Scandinavian living is still on trend

The Scandinavian lagom style is just right for many people. Because that's what the Swedish word lagom means: “just right”. It refers to both an interior design style and an attitude to life that is primarily about creating a healthy balance. Light and soft colors dominate the overall picture, and some of the furniture is made of light wood. Pictures on the walls add a touch of color and personalization. This calm and balanced furnishing style is perfect for the bedroom. White, grey and greige are the color gradations - even the color accents remain neutral and pastel. Textiles in neutral colors with plenty of texture are suitable for the bed linen.

The
Lienzo linen bed set is ideal for this trend in all available color variations.  Whether mist blue, white, gray, shell pink or ivory - the bed linen made of first-class linen is perfect for the Scandinavian lagom style. Not too much and not too little!

To make the cool and neutral colors look inviting, you should work with lots of additional cushions and plaids to bring visual warmth into the bedroom.

Bedroom acoustics: an audible trend

All the senses should come to rest in the bedroom. This also applies to your hearing! Good acoustics are more important in a quiet room than anywhere else in the home. Good acoustics mean that the room does not echo. Echoes are avoided with structural measures such as a slatted wall. Large houseplants in the corners also ensure pleasant acoustics. If you choose a bed with an upholstered headboard, you will also help to dampen the sound.  The walls should not be left bare either. Canvases improve acoustic comfort better than framed pictures with glass covers. If you use chairs or sofas, always choose an upholstered version with a textured surface for the bedroom.

It goes without saying that curtains belong in the bedroom, even if you use other darkening methods. Curtains are not only a question of style, but also of acoustics. And a fluffy rug keeps your feet warm when you get up and the noise in the room muffled.

You can also work with home textiles that you place strategically: Decorative cushions and plaids, like our ASPEN plaids in various colors make all the difference. Do the echo test yourself, you'll be surprised.

Trend or taste - that's how it works!

Sometimes a trend is over very quickly. And sometimes it simply perfectly reflects the taste of the person who discovers it and then implements it, making people happy in the long term. Take your time before completely redesigning your bedroom. Look at pictures, put them aside and come back to them later.

Then ask yourself some important questions: Do you still like this style as much, or even better, than the first time you saw it? Would you have liked this trend five years ago? Are you likely to still like it in five years' time? How does the trend fit in with the rest of your decor?

The more serious, costly and long-term the change, the longer you should think about your decision to follow a new trend. So it's a good idea to think a little longer, especially when it comes to flooring or tiles, and make the more conservative decision when in doubt. Furniture and wall colors are much easier to change, even if they are sometimes expensive and involve a certain amount of effort.

When it comes to decorations and bed linen, you can give free rein to your desire for the new trend. Bed linen can be changed in no time at all and, if necessary, stored away in the wardrobe until the pattern is back in fashion in your home. Enjoy the pleasure of creativity when furnishing your bedroom with Christian Fischbacher.
