Proper care of high-quality bed linen

The beautiful bed linen from Christian Fischbacher is made to make you happy for many years to come. To ensure that the fine textiles remain as wonderfully soft to the touch - as on the first day - even after numerous washes and that their colors shine as brightly as you would wish, you should pay attention to a few details when caring for them.

We can reassure you right away: First-class bed linen doesn't take much time or effort to care for. On the contrary! You will be surprised by some of our tips and tricks. After all, quality bed linen from Christian Fischbacher wants to be loved, but not pampered.

Important before washing

  1. Don't leave dirty laundry lying around: Dirty laundry should be washed as quickly as possible. This will prevent stains, sweat and unpleasant odors from settling into the fabric.

  2. Follow the care instructions: All Christian Fischbacher textiles are provided with a care label. Always observe the recommended washing temperature, drying, ironing and dry-cleaning instructions. Cotton and linen can be washed at 60 degrees, silk at 30 degrees.

  3. Turn inside out: Always turn the bed linen inside out before washing and close all buttons and zippers.

  4. Separate the laundry: Separate the laundry by color and by material. Pay particular attention not to mix white laundry with colored laundry. You should also never wash your fine bed linen with terry towelling, denim or other coarse fabrics. The friction caused by washing can otherwise damage the fine fabric of the bed linen.

  5. Do not use bleach: Do not use chlorine bleach (Javel) or aggressive stain removers. These can lead to permanent irregularities in the color of your bed linen.

The right laundry

  1. Fill the washing machine correctly: Fill the washing drum loosely and do not overload it. As a rule of thumb, there should still be room for a raised hand between the laundry and the drum.

  2. Set the right program: Select the appropriate program for your washing machine and refer to the information on the care label. We recommend adjusting the spin speed to the washing machine model, the size of the washing machine drum and the amount of laundry. Too high a spin speed can damage the laundry and create stubborn creases, while too low a spin speed can result in the laundry not being spun out thoroughly enough and taking longer to dry.

  3. The right detergent: Choosing the right detergent is particularly important. For colored textiles, printed fabrics and delicate materials, it is always advisable to use a special liquid detergent that has been developed exclusively for colored and delicate fabrics. Make sure you use detergents without optical brighteners for your colored and delicate fabrics. Detergents with bleaching agents can be recognized by the words “oxygen-based bleaching agent” or “optical brightener”. White bed linen can be washed with a full detergent without hesitation.

  4. Deterget dosage: Dose your detergent exactly according to the instructions. Also take into account the load of the washing machine, your water hardness and the degree of soiling

After the wash

  1. Do not leave wet laundry lying around: Never leave wet bed linen in the washing machine or laundry basket. Hang them up immediately or dry them in the tumble dryer.

  2. Pull into shape: Pull the laundry into shape before drying. This step is particularly important for non-iron jersey bed linen.

  3. Dry gently: When air drying, you should hang the bed linen over several washing lines without tension and, if possible, without clothespins. If you use a tumble dryer, set the temperature as low as possible.

  4. After drying: Do not overdry your cotton bed linen as this will permanently damage and crease the fibers. The fabric will then look dull and feel rough. Remove the bed linen from the tumble dryer as soon as it is dry.

  5. Iron correctly: You can usually do without ironing, many Christian Fischbacher bed linen fabrics are non-iron. The natural wrinkle structure of linen is often desirable. However, if you want a smooth finish, iron at the temperature specified for the material on the care label.

Extra tips from Christian Fischbacher for the sustainable care of your bed linen

  • Do without fabric softener
You might not have expected this. But you are only doing good if you don't use fabric softener. This is because it forms a soapy film on the bed linen and permanently destroys the precious fibers. If you leave out fabric softener, you save unnecessary effort, money and also do good for the environment, as fabric softener is particularly difficult to biodegrade.

  • Drying bed linen: natural lasts the longest
The drying process in the tumble dryer is particularly hard on the fibers. Always leave your bed linen to dry in the fresh air if you have the opportunity to do so. Not only will you be able to breathe in the scent of sun and wind in bed - you will also prolong the life of your bed linen. You will also be doing something good for the environment and your wallet.

  • Care - gentle on the laundry, good for your skin
Bed linen comes into direct contact with your skin for many hours every day. Therefore, when choosing your detergent, you should not only make sure that the washing power is right, but also that no harmful residues remain in the fabric that could later end up on your skin. With the Care line, Christian Fischbacher has developed gentle detergents for cotton, silk and down & wool that contain only natural ingredients. The detergents in the Care line are free from bleaching agents, brighteners and fabric softeners, they are alkali and acid-free and biodegradable. So you and your bed linen are safe.

With these tips, you can ensure that your bed linen is optimally cleaned and cared for with every wash, so that you can enjoy our high-quality Christian Fischbacher bed linen for years to come.
